The weekend of September 10-12 we took our last camping trip of 2010. What a sad thought. Summer is over. But I finally made it to my Sand Dunes!!! I haven't went nearly as often as I would like but we made it and it was so much fun!

We have titled this trip P.P.P.
What does that mean?
Piss Poor Planning
Yep, we didn't plan this trip very well at all.
First I forgot to plan with my Dad that we would like to borrow the red truck to pull up the four wheelers so he took it to work. This would have normally been on except I took the whole day off on Friday so we could get up there early. Well since I was a slacker, we had to wait for him to get home from work. This wasnt until after 4 pm. After that we had to load the bikes and get everything in the trailer. We didnt actually get out of town until about 7. Way too late of a start. But we were on our way.
Once we were halfway there we realized that if we arrived before my parents we had NOTHING! We didnt take tents, coats, food...Nothing. And it was getting cold! What were we thinking? P.P.P.
Craig has NEVER been to the sand dunes before this trip so I was in charge of telling him how to get there. (I know you are all laughing inside right now...and with good reason) Craig was just driving along in the dark and we passed the turn off. As we watch it fly by I say "Oops! We were supposed to turn there" Now keep in mind we are on a 2 lane road towing a trailer. Craig has not towed something for about four years so we kept driving hopeing for a turn off. We found one...A little too late and missed it. We found another one..again, too late. Finally we got one we could try and turn around in. We backed up, then forward, then back and then forward again. The trailer was NOT cooperating! So we drove forward again and just found a better place to turn around. Finally we are going the right direction...again :)
So we get to the sign...and make the turn! Yay!
I ALMOST forgot to tell him there was one more turn. Luckily we made it. Otherwise, i think he might have thrown me out of the truck! :)
We turn in the dark and drive up to the pay station and realize that the price is redicioulous! 18 dollars a night! It used to be 8 dollars per night! We were not happy campers! But we paid and went in. Now we had the task of locating my parents since they had ALL of our stuff!
We of course didnt have much service and I thought my phone was at home. A very helpful place for it to be. We were sitting on the side of the road near where we wanted to camp. We were debating on whether or not to head up to camp or to sit and wait. Luckily we didnt have long to ponder because my Dad pulled up right next to us.
We were able to drive up, set up the trailer and head inside for some hot chocolate. It was a lot colder than I thought it was going to be. I talked my Mom into letting us sleep in the trailer that night since it was so late and so dark. She hesitantly agreed. Selfish! Wanting that nice big trailer all to herself. Sheesh!
Craig and Kelsi took a bed and Brayden and I took the other. He is such a cuddle bug :)
In the morning we all were ready to play! Except my Lucky. He was sick the day before and still wasnt quite himself. But he was happy to be in the sunshine.
Another part of the P.P.P. was that I didnt take very many pictures. I know, what was I thinking! So most of them were of Brayden. He is just so funny :)
He was walking around with his hat covering his eyes. Now this isnt a smart idea for anyone. Especially for a little boy who trips over EVERYTHING! But he was having a blast.

He of course ran into Lucky but it was a soft landing. Its a good thing Lucky likes him.

We spend the entire day on the four wheelers. Brayden loved them. So did we. Luckily my parents are getting old and didnt want to even ride. So that left Craig, Kelsi and I happy campers. Kelsi and I are VERY sore now but it was worth it.

Brayden was all sorts of happy to be out and getting all of this attention. He loves the camera.

Here is the awesome beetle that i love to look at. It makes such a cool pattern in the sand. Unfortunatly i didnt take any pictures of that either.

Lucky finally started feeling better and we played fetch for a bit before it got too dark to see.
The sun finally went down and we saw a beautiful sunset.

Lucky was beat!

So was Brayden. He was not happy that it was time to get clean and put on lotion.
The next day we woke up and cleaned up camp and took one last ride before we headed home. We climed a big hill and finally remembered to take a few pictures.
